Scripture Reading:
Genesis 1:27 (NIV)
“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”
From the opening page of Scripture, God reveals Himself not as distant or detached, but as a Creator with intention, beauty, and purpose. Genesis 1:27 tells us that humanity was created in His image — a profound truth that sets the tone for the entire biblical story. Being made in the image of God means you were created with dignity, value, and calling. You were formed to reflect His character, designed to walk in relationship with Him, and purposed to bear His likeness in the world.
This thread of creation runs far beyond Genesis.
We see it when:
- David marvels, “I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14).
- Isaiah proclaims, “We are the clay, You are the potter; we are all the work of Your hand” (Isaiah 64:8).
- Paul declares, “We are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works” (Ephesians 2:10).
Creation is not simply something God did — it is something God continues to shape, redeem, and renew. And Scripture ends the same way it begins: with God making all things new (Revelation 21:5).
Even when sin fractured God’s design, the Creator did not abandon His creation. Instead, He stepped into it — through Christ, the exact image of God (Colossians 1:15), bringing restoration to what He lovingly made.
Your life is not an accident.
Your purpose is not random.
Your story is not overlooked.
You were created on purpose, for a purpose — and that purpose is found in the One whose image you bear.

Consider the Following
- Where do you see the beauty of God’s design in your own life?
- In what ways do you struggle to believe you are made in God’s image?
- What might it look like today to reflect His character more fully?
Prayer
Father, thank You for creating me in Your image with intention and love. Help me to see myself the way You see me — valued, designed, and deeply known. Restore in me a clear sense of Your purpose, and teach me to reflect Your heart in the way I live. As I walk through this study, open my eyes to Your presence and Your creative work in every part of my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
