Prayer for Endurance During Long Trials

A Simple Prayer for Endurance When Facing Long Trials

Long trials test more than our patience—they test our faith, hope, and strength. When answers seem delayed and relief feels distant, it can be difficult to keep trusting God with the same confidence we once had. Yet Scripture reminds us that endurance is not about human strength alone; it is formed as we rely on God daily. This Prayer for Endurance is for seasons that feel prolonged and exhausting, when perseverance feels costly but necessary.

Prayer

Faithful and sustaining Father,
I come before You weary from the length of this trial. You see how long the road has been and how heavy my heart feels. Your Word reminds me that You are near to those who call on You in truth (Psalm 145:18), and I ask You now to draw close and renew my strength.

Lord, You tell me to consider it joy when I face trials of many kinds, because the testing of my faith produces perseverance (James 1:2–4). Yet some days, joy feels far away. Help me trust that even in this prolonged season, You are shaping my faith and deepening my dependence on You.

When my strength feels depleted, remind me that Your grace is sufficient and that Your power is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Teach me to rely not on my own endurance, but on Your sustaining presence. Help me take each day one step at a time, trusting You for today rather than worrying about tomorrow.

Father, guard my heart against discouragement and despair. When I am tempted to give up, remind me that I am not running this race alone. Your Word calls me to run with perseverance, fixing my eyes on Jesus, who endured the cross for the joy set before Him (Hebrews 12:1–2). Let His example strengthen my resolve.

Help me wait for You with hope, knowing that those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength (Isaiah 40:31). Even when answers feel delayed, remind me that You are faithful and that Your timing is perfect. I trust that this trial will not last forever, and that You are using it to refine me and draw me closer to You (Romans 5:3–5).

Sustain me, Lord, until the work You are doing in me is complete.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Encouragement

Endurance grows slowly, but it grows deeply when rooted in God’s promises.
