Welcome to Faithful & Well — where new Christian believers find encouragement, truth, and practical guidance for growing in Christ.
Welcome!
Becoming a new Christian is both exciting and life-changing. You’ve made the most important decision of your life — to follow Jesus — and that step opens the door to a whole new way of living. Yet for many new believers, this season can also feel confusing or overwhelming.
Pressure and discouragement can come from unexpected places — even friends or family who don’t understand your new faith. In these moments, it’s easy to feel isolated or to question your decision to follow Christ.
But here’s the good news: God never intended for you to walk this journey alone. When your faith is built on the right foundation, you can stand firm and thrive no matter what challenges come your way.
Building a Strong Foundation in Christ
A thriving Christian life begins with a strong foundation rooted in prayer, Scripture, and community.
Here are three key ways to stay strong as a new believer:
- Spend time daily in God’s Word. Start small — even one chapter a day helps your roots grow deeper.
- Talk to God through prayer. He invites you to bring your worries, doubts, and joys to Him.
- Surround yourself with believers. Fellowship strengthens faith and reminds you that you’re not alone.
When your life is anchored in God’s truth, you’ll be better equipped to withstand trials and temptations.
Learning from the Parable of the Sower
Jesus explained the importance of spiritual roots in the Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13:19–23):
“When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart.
The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy.
But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.
The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful.
But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty, or thirty times what was sown.” (Matthew 13:19–23, NIV)
This parable reminds us that faith must grow deep roots to flourish. When we stay connected to God through His Word and His people, our lives begin to bear lasting fruit — love, joy, peace, and spiritual maturity.
